John Crosthwaite spent most of his childhood making faces in the mirror, lip syncing to punk songs, and watching/memorizing Robin Williams stand-up videos and Bruce Campbell films. When he was a freshman in high school drama class he was asked to improvise his entire final performance of "Murder in Rehearsal" after one of the lead actors was stricken with chronic diarrhea during the opening scene. Since that fateful day John has been in love with the power of improvisation (not so much chronic diarrhea).

John  joined his first improv troupe when he was 17 years old in Napa, California called "the Otter Spigots". After three years of performing in wine country John gathered together many talented friends, actors, and writers to form "The Rats in the Alley". John was the Artistic Director of RITA for nearly 5 years performing in or directing over 210 shows throughout the San Francisco, Oakland, and Sacramento areas.

In 2008 John was honored to become a member of ComedySportz: Sacramento, a National organization of family comedy improv theatres in 20 major cities throughout the United States and Europe.

John has a BA in Dramatic art with a Minor in Education from UC Davis and is currently enrolled at DePaul University's Theatre School Conservatory program in Chicago pursuing an MFA in Acting. John has also been seen in the Discovery Channel television series I Almost Got Away With It as a lead in the episode "Got a Gun made of Toilet paper".
